Our Houses
At Pimlico Primary, every child in Year 1 and above belongs to one of four houses. The four houses are named after Greek gods and goddesses: Athena, Apollo, Hera, and Zeus.
Our house system is designed to help pupils connect with and learn from peers of different ages, creating a strong sense of community and belonging. This system fosters an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and has a chance to contribute their ideas and skills.
To encourage children to embody our values of knowledge, aspiration, and respect, they earn points for their house. Points are awarded for a variety of positive actions, such as excelling in their work, helping classmates, or trying something new. Each fortnight, we tally the house points, and the house with the most points is celebrated in our assembly.
Throughout the year, children participate in various house events, including sports days, poetry contests, and creative challenges. These activities not only strengthen our community but also create memorable experiences and motivate pupils to excel in different areas.
Our house system also offers pupils numerous opportunities to take on responsibilities. Older pupils often read with younger ones in Reception, which helps them develop responsibility and compassion while serving as positive role models. Pupils can also volunteer as playground buddies to ensure everyone has a joyful and rewarding playtime. Many also contribute to our school in other roles, such as librarians or weather station monitors.
By participating in the house system, our pupils grow into confident, caring individuals with the skills and character needed for success in secondary school and beyond.
