Teaching & Learning

At Pimlico Primary, we want children to develop a love of learning and our curriculum provides a strong foundation to achieve this. Our team has ensured that the knowledge and skills pupils need to know and remember is carefully chosen and sequenced for success.

This means that in every subject, in each year group, there are clear schemes of work that build on children’s prior learning and introduces them to culturally rich and academically rigorous subject knowledge. We want our children to become confident, knowledgeable and interested young people ready for secondary education when they leave us.

In Reception, education starts with play in a nurturing environment, supported with carefully designed, adult-guided learning. This ensures all children get the care and support they need to get the best start at school. We tailor activities to each child's unique needs and interests, fostering their development through engaging conversations and activities. As they grow, we introduce more structured learning to prepare them for Year 1.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, pupils explore a broad range of subjects, including history, geography, music, religious studies and technology. Our curriculum is designed to be both challenging and accessible, using programmes developed by our Trust’s Curriculum Centre in subjects such as history and geography, as well as well-known schemes of learning in subjects such as English, maths, and science.

If you wish to learn more about what your child is learning, please do speak to their class teacher.  To find out more about our curriculum, please contact our school office.  Parents have the right to withdraw their children from all or part of Religious Education; please speak to Mrs Chandhoke if you wish to do so or to discuss this further.
